Data Sovereignty and privacy are your top priorities? Then you'll be glad to know we've launched a new connector application that allows you to edit collaboratively office documents directly in your XWiki instance. This way, you'll have an open-source ecosystem without any data lock-in.

Open-source collaborative editing ecosystem

Collabora Online is a powerful collaborative Office suite that supports all major document, spreadsheet, and presentation file formats, and it provides data security and sovereignty. The Collabora Connector App allows you to view, edit and collaborate in real-time on office attachments, via WOPI protocol.

The integration that our XWiki Pro Apps team has worked on makes it easy for you to connect your Collabora online office suite to your XWiki instance. What's more, the integration also allows you to:

  • Edit collaboratively in real-time the existing XWiki office attachments;
  • Create new office files, with 3 types being available: documents, spreadsheets, and presentations;
  • Foster a collaborative culture through the available applications that can be mixed and matched with the Collabora Connector App (Task Manager, Calendar, Meeting App, Poll, Ideas, etc.).

Collabora server configuration

For the application to work, a Collabora server needs to be configured, accordingly to their documentation, and the server address is then added to the application administration page.

Once the extension is active, you will see a new option at the bottom of each page, in the Attachment tab:
