At XWiki, we hold the open-source community in high regard, recognizing its essential role in fostering innovation and collaboration within the software industry.
Open source has driven technological advancements across the globe, and as both beneficiaries and contributors, we believe it is our responsibility to give back and support the projects that have significantly influenced the ecosystem.
To fulfill this commitment, we are pledging 1% of our annual recurring revenue to support open-source projects. This donation is aimed at:
- promoting further development,
- ensuring long-term sustainability,
- showing our appreciation to the community that has been instrumental in our growth.
We, at XWiki SAS, are already major contributors to open source through our fully open-source products like XWiki and CryptPad. But we also recognize the importance of supporting the developers behind the upstream software that we rely on for both our products and day-to-day operations.

Additional support and associations

Our involvement with these organizations underscores our commitment to nurturing a sustainable and vibrant open-source environment.

A movie
One special sponsorship we are particularly excited about is the film adaptation of the book Ada & Zangemann: A Tale of Software, Skateboards, and Raspberry Ice Cream, which is being produced by the Free Software Foundation Europe (FSFE). We have contributed our highest donation of €4,000 toward this project.
We believe this animated film will play an essential role in educating people, especially non-technologists, about the significance of open-source software.
While many in the tech community understand the importance of open source, there is still a need to make these concepts more accessible to the wider public. The book Ada & Zangemann effectively communicates these ideas, and we are confident that the movie will reach even more people.
Join us in supporting open source
We take great pride in taking this step to support the open-source community and are open to feedback and suggestions from our employees, partners, and the broader community.
Our recent donation initiative is just the beginning. We are eager to continue refining and expanding our contributions to open-source projects in the coming years.
To further this goal, we’ve joined the French “Copie Publique” group, where we can collaborate and share ideas with other open-source contributors who share our commitment to supporting the ecosystem. We believe this partnership will help strengthen our efforts and those of others within the community.
If you're interested in supporting our work, consider sponsoring us! Every single euro raised is reinvested into the open-source community, helping to sustain and grow the tools and projects we all rely on.
And if you're seeking a knowledge management solution, we encourage you to check out XWiki. Together, we can continue to support the open-source ecosystem and ensure its success for years to come.
