🧠 Smart Country Convention
We kicked off autumn at the Smart Country Convention in Berlin, an event dedicated to digital transformation in public administrations. This year’s SCCON was particularly special as it marked the official launch of openDesk, a project we’ve been collaborating on for the past two years alongside other open-source organizations, at ZenDiS initiative.
The launch of openDesk was met with tremendous interest, drawing representatives from public administrations and tech experts alike. For us, it was a fantastic opportunity to meet in person with the open-source organizations we’ve worked with to bring this project to life.
With more than 30 public organizations, including the Federal Ministry of Health and the State of Berlin, already testing openDesk, we showcased how XWiki complements the platform with robust knowledge-sharing, collaboration, and document management capabilities.
At the heart of our presence at SCCON was a presentation by our Sales Director, Clément Aubin, who captivated the audience with his insights into XWiki’s adaptability. During his session, Clément demonstrated how teams can build powerful, customized knowledge bases using XWiki’s flexible platform. He walked attendees through our most popular features, showing how it seamlessly supports organizations of all sizes, from local teams to national administrations.
🛡️ IT-SA Expo and Congress
Next, we headed to IT-SA Expo and Congress, and this marked our first-ever appearance at Europe’s largest event dedicated to IT security. The event brought together cybersecurity professionals, decision-makers, and tech enthusiasts, creating the perfect environment to showcase both XWiki and CryptPad.
We were thrilled by the overwhelming interest from visitors, particularly in CryptPad, our privacy-focused collaboration suite. Also, our team representatives had engaging discussions, showcasing live demonstrations of how XWiki can serve as a secure and adaptable solution for managing sensitive business and public sector data.
Beyond the excitement of presenting our solutions, we also enjoyed learning from other exhibitors and exploring cutting-edge innovations in the cybersecurity space. IT-SA proved to be an excellent platform for exchange and growth, and we’re already looking forward to returning next year!
👀 OMIMO Community Forum
October wrapped up with Ștefana Nazare, our Product Owner of Apps & Cloud, presenting XWiki at the OMIMO Community Forum 2024, an online event dedicated to open-source tools for project management. This was a fantastic opportunity to showcase how XWiki supports project managers by simplifying workflows and boosting team productivity.
During her live demo, Ștefana highlighted how XWiki centralizes all project information into one place, making it effortless to manage tasks, documents, and workflows. She also demonstrated how its real-time collaboration features help teams stay in sync and adapt to unique project needs with customizable workflows and reporting.
The demo sparked great interest among attendees and led to meaningful discussions about how XWiki can transform project management processes. If you couldn’t join live, here is Ștefana's demo—check it out to discover how XWiki can help take your projects to the next level.
💻 FII IT-ist
In early November, we had the pleasure of participating in FII IT-ist, an event in Iași that brings together students and industry professionals to explore the latest advancements in IT. Representing XWiki, Adina Milica, our Graphic & UI/UX Designer, and Anca Luca, our Client Service CTO, led a captivating session titled “The very demure, very mindful way of adaptable frontends✨.”
Adina and Anca shared how XWiki’s adaptable frontend approach ensures intuitive and accessible designs tailored to diverse user needs. Their talk resonated with attendees, sparking new perspectives on creating user-centric interfaces that balance creativity and functionality.
Adding to the excitement, our CEO, Ludovic Dubost, who happened to be in Iași during the event, joined us to meet with students. It was a unique opportunity for them to hear firsthand about his entrepreneurial journey and XWiki’s open-source initiatives, including CryptPad and Cristal, which highlight our dedication to innovation and user empowerment.
FII IT-ist gave us the chance to connect with a new generation of IT talent, share insights into our work, and inspire curiosity about open-source technology. We’re already looking forward to returning next year!
🧑🎓 Forum Étudiants Entreprises
Mid-November, we attended the Forum Étudiants Entreprises at CY Tech Cergy, a one-day event designed to connect students with companies offering internships, work-study opportunities, and entry-level roles. Representing XWiki were Diana Véron, our HR Manager, and Clément Christiaens, our Infrastructure Engineer, who was particularly excited to return to his alma mater, CY Tech, where he was once a student.
The forum provided a wonderful opportunity to introduce students to XWiki’s mission of fostering open-source collaboration and innovation. Clément’s unique perspective as an alumnus made the conversations especially engaging, as he shared insights from his own journey—from student to engineer at XWiki. Together with Diana, they highlighted the exciting career opportunities available at XWiki and demonstrated how students could contribute to our cutting-edge projects.
💡 Capitole du Libre
Capitole du Libre is always a highlight on our calendar, and this year’s edition didn’t disappoint. It’s one of our favorite events—a celebration of free software and open-source innovation that brings together passionate people from all walks of life.
This year, we came with a diverse team of XWikiers, including our CEO Ludovic Dubost, and our CTO Anca Luca. Everyone brought their own energy and expertise to our stand, making it a lively hub for discussions about XWiki, CryptPad, and all things open source. From chatting with developers about technical challenges to brainstorming ideas with advocates and users, we left inspired and full of fresh insights.
Capitole du Libre always feels like a gathering of friends who share the same mission. We’re already counting down to next year’s event and can’t wait to see how the community continues to grow and innovate!
💭 Campus du Libre
We wrapped up our autumn events at Campus du Libre. This year’s theme, “Free your devices: flash and install parties 2024,” brought together students and open-source enthusiasts to explore how they could swap out Android systems for privacy-respecting alternatives.
Our team was excited to showcase both XWiki and CryptPad, sparking conversations about the importance of privacy-conscious software. Attendees were eager to learn how open-source solutions like ours give users more freedom and control over their data.
Events like Campus du Libre are always inspiring. They remind us of the growing demand for tools that prioritize transparency and user empowerment, and we can’t wait to return next year to continue the conversation!

Looking ahead, the winter season promises to be just as exciting. We’re kicking off December with appearances at Nextcloud Enterprise Days and Open Source Experience in Paris, where we’ll be joining our friends and partners from OpenProject.
