One question we get from our users is “How do I install Pro apps without internet access?”. It’s not complicated and today we’re writing a short guide to walk you through the process.

To install an XWiki Pro App offline you need an XIP distribution. Please contact us and we'll be happy to point you in the right direction. We'll need to know your wiki version and the instance ID. The version is needed to make sure the app is compatible with your XWiki deployment, while the instance ID is necessary to generate the Pro app license. As you don’t have access to the internet on your instance, you won’t be able to purchase the Pro app from the Extension Manager. For this, we can create a manual invoice.

If the XIP is already available, we’ll send you the download link. If it doesn’t exist yet, our developers will package it for you.

Once you have received the package, you should install the Pro app by following these steps:

  • Rename the package to .zip and unzip it
  • Copy the unzipped folder in XWiki to data > extension > repository
  • Restart XWiki
  • Install the app from the Local extensions repository as shown below:

Next, our team will generate the license and send it to you by email. You can go to the “Licenses” section in the XWiki Administration to apply it.

That's it! Enjoy your new app!
